Main Junction Exhibition Launch

It took place on Wednesday 9th July 2008, at Fishergate Baptist Church, Fishergate, Preston.

Arts Mark

Congratulations to over 220
schools across the North West region which have been awarded the Artsmark by
Arts Council England! The mark recognises a school’s commitment to, and
excellence in, arts education. A school must dedicate a minimum of 10 per cent
of its curricular teaching time to the arts to receive an Artsmark; 12 per cent
wins a Silver Artsmark and 15 per cent qualifies for Artsmark Gold. An Artsmark

History Zone Project call out for stories, photographs or other memorabilia relating to disabled people in Preston's history

The History Zone Project, funded by Heritage Lottery is being facilitated by
PRESCAP (Preston Community Arts Project). Artists Des Butler and Kate
Eggleston- Wirtz are enabling service users of Moor Lane Resource Centre to
create an interactive ‘history wall’ recording the social history of disabled
people in Preston. Parts of the installation will be portable and will
enable elements of the work to be shown in different locations.

After several months of workshops with service users of GrassRoots Holy Trinity, Prescap is facilitating a selection of arts activities lead by professional artists to encourage local people and passing visitors to consider the town’s fantastic natural heritage. The event is part of a programme of activity commissioned by Blackpool Art Service.

Brooklea Day Centre Portraits Project

Aim: to buld self esteem through arts activity, while learning new skills.
Mick Phillips and Steve Rooney worked with adults with learning difficulties to research and make visual imagery in response to the theme of personal history. The project culminated in an exhibition at Sefton arts centre and postcards were produced to celebrate the achievements of the group.

Young British and Muslim

Three groups of young people, two from schools and a youth groups, took a creative look at being Young, British and Muslim in Preston. The project explored identity in a variety of ways, considering the different levels of identity in different social environments. How did someone exhibit themselves at home or at school with their friends.
