Summer tour update

Thanks to all those who have been working hard to prepare for the summer tour. “12 Weeks of Summer” launched on air last week and opens in Leyland on Monday.

Public information about the tour is on the front page of the website, and there is further information for volunteers available at www.preston.fm/tourfaq

All on-air volunteers should have received the latest details in the post this week – please do read the information we’ve sent you carefully. The following points are worth highlighting:

Publicity materials for the Leyland and Ingol legs of the tour are now available. Please pick some leaflets and posters up when you’re next in the office if you can distribute them in those areas.

The office in Buckingham House will close next Friday, 19th July. During the tour, we’ll be operating from a temporary office in the new building which won’t be open to visitors for safety reasons. If you need to contact us during the tour, please visit the tour venue (where there will always be a member of staff) or call us on 01772 880791.

Pre-recording time will be at a premium whilst we’re on tour. Ideally, your show will be live but, if you need to book a pre-record slot, please do so as far in advance as possible. You can do so in person at the tour venues, or by calling 01772 880791.

October schedule changes WILL affect you – get ready!

Our second birthday in October means it’s time for another schedule review.

Just like last year, we’ll be asking all volunteers who’d like a show for the six months from October 2010 to March 2011 to fill in a short form letting us know what you’d like to do.

This applies to volunteers who are currently broadcasting, as well as volunteers who don’t have a regular show on-air at the moment.

Everyone should receive a letter and a form in the post over the next few days. If you want a show from October, these forms need to be returned by first thing on Monday 9th August 2010.

Forms can be returned to staff at tour venues, or posted to 5A Walton’s Parade, Preston PR1 8QT. Please don’t send your form to Buckingham House – we won’t be there to receive it!

So, please read the information carefully when it arrives – and let us know if you have any questions or worries.

The Community Reporters team will be working hard whilst we’re on tour to produce reports and features about the areas that we’re visiting.

If you’d like to get involved, then everyone is welcome to join in the Community Reporters planning meetings, which will be taking place every fortnight whilst we’re on tour.

The team will meet on the first Monday of each leg of the tour, at 4:30pm at the tour venue. Please do come along and help us create some great local reports about the areas we’re visiting.
