Prescap … putting the beat into Beat Herder!

Lancashire’s popular music festival, Beat Herder, was brought alive by the sights and sounds of Prescap and Preston FM!

The three day event brought a celebration of artistry, musical madness and theatrical nonsense to the picturesque Ribble Valley.

Prescap went along to help those attending Beat Herder explore their artistic side through a range of special audio and visual workshops. Professional artists from Prescap were on hand to help festival goers ‘Pimp their Wellies’! Yes, the days of those boring monotone green or black rubber efforts were well and truly gone- the cows didn’t know what had hit them!  ‘Badge It Up’ also gave those attending the chance to explore their creative side and enabled them to stand out from the crowd this summer.

Budding broadcasters were given the opportunity to try out their DJ’ing and presenting skills through a series of exciting workshops lead by staff from Preston FM (Prescap’s flagship project)- the areas only community radio station. Participants were put through their paces in mixing, beat matching and desktop music publishing skills. Festival goers also got the chance to join Preston FM’s team of roving reporters who’ll were out and about interviewing the bands and revellers to paint a veritable picture of events for those listening back at home on the radio.

As well as having a whole host of fun, many of the young people attending over the 3 days had the chance to work towards achieving their Arts Award qualification. Aged between 11 and 25, those registered were encouraged to explore their creativity within an arts and media setting.

Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification which can prove particularly useful when exploring further education and employment options.
